About Box Hill Lodge
A local Masonic Lodge in Redhill, Surrey since 1943.
Discover more about our Freemasons Lodge in Redhill.
Box Hill Lodge was consecrated at the Masonic hall in Surbiton on 29th January 1943, by the Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro. Lieut.-Col. H.A. Mann OBE, MC and assisted by two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and many other Provincial Grand officers.
The Lodge used to meet at the Barley Mow, Betchworth (now known as Arkle Manor) until 1948.
In the first year of the Lodge, there were 14 ceremonies carried out including 8 initiations …. by all standards a very busy year.
The Lodge also has a close affiliation with its namesake in Victoria, Australia – Box Hill Lodge 221, so named after an emigrant who hailed from Dorking, Surrey.

A beautiful location overlooking the Surrey Downs.
In 1980 it was unanimously agreed that the lodge move to its third home, the Masonic Centre at Nutfield.
After many changes, the lodge has survived well over the years and now it is not uncommon to see a festive board (masonic dinner) of 35 to 40 attending.
Box Hill has always been regarded as one of the most successful lodges in the Province with a strong membership, creating a truly vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere at our meetings.
Why should I join Box Hill Lodge?
We pride ourselves on the excellent ceremonial work in the lodge. There is good support from a host of mentors, including Grand Officers, to advise and guide new members at their own pace, as they wish.
Box Hill is a very ‘happy’ lodge, making it the ideal Masonic lodge to join if you are looking for a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
We also have a lively social calendar outside of the Lodge, which can involve wives, partners, families and friends. Recently, we have had a Lodge golf day, a quiz night, summer family BBQS, a brewery visit, a couple of curry nights, a New Year family lunch and of course, our annual Ladies night, which is always a great favourite!
We often participate in local and county events, such as garden fetes and community parades.
We are proud to support local and National charities, some non-Masonic and some associated with Freemasonry in Surrey.
